I moved to the United States when I was fourteen. My mother worked in massage, and through her I saw how demanding it could be to make a living by caring for others. I never forgot the effort behind those hands.
While studying nursing in college, I discovered how closely massage could connect with a scientific understanding of the body. I saw my mother’s work in a new light. I went on to study massage and founded Tea Spa in 2011, hoping to offer thoughtful, professional care to guests and greater respect for the people providing it.
Becoming a mother of three deepened my understanding of what it means to give. I began studying mindfulness, meditation, and Reiki, and learning to make room for my own well-being. Those who care for others deserve care, too.
That understanding also took me into the community. I volunteer with Montgomery Hospice, offering a gentle presence to people nearing the end of life, and at Amata Meditation Center, sharing tea and moments of stillness. These encounters continue to teach me the value of simply being there for someone.
Today, I give back by creating jobs and opportunities to grow. I want Tea Spa to help people build a livelihood with dignity, while encouraging a life with room for family, rest, and inner peace.
What began with my mother’s hands is the care I hope to carry forward.
